Where is it written that fashion trends must come from New York, Los Angeles or other fashion meccas of the world?  Born on the streets of Detroit, Al Wissam is out to prove a point.  Founded in 1992, Al Wissam began as a retailer in Southwest Detroit. A few years later, Al Wissam began producing its own unique brand of clothing.  Now, as a leader in urban outwear, Al Wissam is defying the norm - in more ways than one.  Not only has Al Wissam grown and succeeded out of Detroit, but they have done so with a purpose - and not just to prove Detroit as a viable fashion leader.  Al Wissam serves the cause of diversity and respect for one's self and all of the cultures of the world.

Al Wissam is a multi-cultural company using fashion as a tool to introduce elements of other cultures to customers abroad.  Bringing people together, promoting understanding, tolerance, and respect for ourselves and others in the goal and driving force behind this company. 

The mission is to create works of art in leather.  Al Wissam designs and distributes high quality leather outerwear to select specialty using only the finest skins to produce beautiful leather garments.

Every piece by Al Wissam is art.  All art contains a message to be seen, heard and felt.  Al Wissam takes immense pride in this fundamental and subsequently fills its designer roles with individuals from the local community who embody and embrace this commitment to superiority of design, culture-rooted art and improving understanding and acceptance.

As individual pieces of art, Al Wissam leathers are known worldwide for their tribute pieces in additional to their cultural pieces.  Famous jackets of the past include "The Source Tribute" jacket, which featured the faces of deceased musicians from the hip hop and R&B communities and "The King Tut", which depicted King Tut's greatest treasures and images from ancient Egypt.  A popular history-themed jacket from the Fall '0t collection is the "Tell No Tales" jacket (background of the right panel) which features images from the buccaneer days.  Another such jacket was the "World War" jacket is a tribute to American's veterans of war; depicting medals, battle names, monuments and images of soldiers.

More recent classic tributes includes '07, "G.O.A.T." (Greatest of All Time), which was a collaboration with Adidas, featuring the greatest fighter of all time, Muhammad Ali.  On the same level, "Dragon Eyes" was another tribute to another great fighter, martial arts master, Bruce Lee.

As the world progresses through uncertain times, Al Wissam remains steadfast and will continue to search the world for ideas and inspiration to continue on providing innovative, cutting-edge designs that cannot be silenced.  Al Wissam is the fusion of culture, art and fashion.
